The ESL One Berlin Major 2023 will be the second Major of the 2023 DPC and will take place in Berlin, Germany. After waiting for more than three weeks, we finally know the names of all the participating teams. As expected, most of the top-tier squads have made it.
ESL One Berlin Major 2023 will take place from April 26 to May 7, 2023. With that said, let’s go through each region and see which teams made it.
Western Europe
Starting with the elephant in the room, Western Europe has been the best Dota 2 region for several years now. The results following The Lima Major 2023 prove it because Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid had no problems reaching the Grand Final, where GG defeated Liquid and won the tournament.
When it comes to the ESL One Berlin Major 2023, we’ll get to watch the following 4 teams in action:
- Team Liquid
- Gaimin Gladiators
- Tundra Esports
- OG
Each of them is a favorite to win the event, with pretty solid performances throughout the season. Starting with Team Liquid, Nisha and the rest proved yet again why so many people regard them as the best. The squad finished with just one loss and defeated everyone else.
The current Major champions, Gaimin Gladiators, also had little to no problems. However, the team lost a match they should’ve won, meaning dyrachyo and the rest have room for improvement.

Tundra Esports, TI 11 champions, also had a fairly stable performance in Tour 2 Division I. Even though the squad lost 2 series, they played pretty well and will be one of the main contenders in Berlin.
Lastly, we have OG, the team who barely made it into the Top 4. Although bzm and the rest were fighting for their survival in Division I, the squad won their last couple of matches. This allowed them to fight in the Playoffs, where they met Oorendoo Thunders. Following an epic 3-game series, OG won and finished 4th in Division I.
Eastern Europe
Although we were anticipating some intriguing outcomes in Tour 2 of the Eastern European DPC Division I, it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. The anticipated underdogs had a tough time, while the predictable favorites had little trouble cruising through to qualify for The ESL One Berlin Major 2023. We will be seeing the following squads:
- HellRaisers
- Team Spirit
- BetBoom Team
Since its inception, HellRaisers has established itself as one of the most impressive Eastern European Dota 2 teams in the DPC. The team’s recent roster changes, which brought in two players from VP’s old roster, have only strengthened their position as one of the best. Although they were unable to defeat the heavyweights in Lima, the squad is clearly on the right track, as they continue to prove time and time again.
Up next, we have Team Spirit, the best EEU Dota 2 team in the last 2 years. After winning TI 10, Yatoro and the rest have been dominating in most series. They’ve had a lot of success in 2022 and continue to shine in early 2023. As expected, Team Spirit concluded with just a single loss.
Finally, the third Dota 2 EEU Tour 2 Division I slot goes to BetBoom Team. The latter is among the most interesting names headed to Germany because they’re doing really well domestically but badly on the international stage. Who knows, the Berlin Major 2023 might be just what they need to succeed.
China
China is one of only two regions, alongside Western Europe, to have been allocated 4 slots for the ESL One Berlin Major 2023. Despite public opinion suggesting that the region does not deserve so many slots due to the recent performance of its teams, we will nonetheless be treated to the presence of 4 of the finest teams in Germany.
- PSG.LGD
- Team Aster
- Xtreme Gaming
- Invictus Gaming
It probably doesn’t come as a surprise that PSG.LGD got first place in the China 2023 DPC Tour 2 Division I. Shiro and the rest of his team have been the best in the country and among the world’s strongest Dota 2 teams for a while. That’s why many people consider them the hidden favorites for the Major.
The next squad on the list is Team Aster. Monet and company were the best Chinese team at The Lima Major 2023, so most people expected them to have no problems in Tour 2. Even though the squad made a few hiccups along the way, they secured their slot and will go to Germany.
The third team able to secure a slot for the Major is Xtreme Gaming. Even though most people didn’t expect Paparzii and the rest to be here, XG stepped up their game from Division I and deserved their slot.
Finally, we have Invictus Gaming. The latter had some problems this season, losing their last 3 series. Fortunately, Emo and the rest had pretty good results before then, allowing them to hold on to the Major slot.
Southeast Asia
Southeast Asia is typically one of the most intriguing Dota 2 regions due to the unpredictable nature of the teams. However, Tour 2 was a bit different as two teams stood out from the rest. Without further ado, here are the three SEA DPC Division I teams that will be attending the ESL One Berlin Major 2023:
- Talon Esports
- Execration
- Team SMG
Starting with Talon, 23savage and his team reaffirmed their position as the best in this part of the world. Following their dominant performance in Tour 2, Talon continued to impress their fans at the Lima Major 2023. Now, they did the same in SEA’s DPC Tour 2, where they had little to no competition.
Interestingly, the second spot on the list is for Team SMG. After months of underperforming, MidOne and his teammates finally lived up to the expectations. Surprisingly, SMG defeated most of their big opponents and secured an opportunity to prove themselves against the best in the world.
Finally, we have none other than Execration. Despite the fact the squad wasn’t able to shine at The Lima Major 2023, they proved yet again they’re among the best in SEA. Following all of the epic matches, Execration fished 2nd and nabbed the third spot representing SEA at the Berlin Major 2023.
North America
North America is often considered the least exciting region in the DPC, but Tour 2 featured a few epic series that proved the top teams here are miles ahead of their competitors. Here are the two squads that will be attending the Major:
- TSM
- Shopify Rebellion
For the second DPC Tour in a row, TSM proves they’re the best team in North America. Even though Timado and the crew are yet to show what they’re capable of on the international stage, the squad had hardly any problems in the domestic scene. After defeating everyone, TSM secured a slot for ESL ONE Berlin 2023 without losing a single series.
Interestingly, Shopify Rebellion also qualified for the event. After the first 2 weeks, they and nouns had the same result, so it was time for the most important match. Sadly for Moo and the rest, Arteezy’s team was better and won the series, securing itself a Major slot.
South America
We expect South America to be one of the regions receiving an additional slot for the next DPC. The top teams here are amazing to watch, but after an epic battle, only these 2 have made it:
- beastcoast
- Evil Geniuses
The first team to secure their slot for The Berlin Major 2023 was beastcoast. The latter has been South America’s most dominant squad for several years now, so we weren’t surprised by their amazing results. It’ll be exciting to see if they have what it takes to defend South America’s pride against the best in the world.
The second South American slot for ESL One Berlin 2023 went to Evil Geniuses. Some of you probably expected to see Thunder Awaken here, but EG’s arrival in SA changed the balance of power. The team’s outstanding recent performance is what allowed them to qualify for a second Major, so we can’t wait to see the roster in action.
