Ava “florescent” Eugene, a two-time Game Changers world champion, has signed with Apeks for the 2025 VCT season, marking a historical moment as the first Game Changers player to join a Tier 1 roster. Fluorescent, known for her incredible performances with Shopify Rebellion and Version1, brings her talent to a team gearing up for its VCT debut following its promotion through the EMEA Ascension tournament.
Florescent’s dominance in the GC circuit is unmatched. Across her run with Shopify Rebellion, she secured two back-to-back world titles, both in 2023 and 2024 and earned MVP titles in both championships. Her record-breaking 112 kills in the 2023 GC Championship finals showcased her talent as a Jett main. Her ability to consistently excel against top-tier competitors solidified her reputation as one of Valorant’s most exciting prospects.
Earlier this off-season, Apeks couldn’t keep both players Dom “soulcas” Sulcas and Kajetan “kaajak” Haremski in the team, and Apeks needed an immediate replacement for the players.
Florescent reportedly impressed during tryouts, making her a natural choice for the rebuilt roster, which now features Auni “AvovA” Chahade, Tautvydas “hype” Paldavicius, Michał “MOLSI” Łącki, and Florescent.
This signing is not just a personal milestone for Florescent but a groundbreaking moment for the Valorant competitive. It bridges the gap between Game Changers and Tier 1 competition, setting a precedent for other GC players aiming for higher levels of play. Many see this move as a testament to Riot’s efforts in developing the Game Changers program to nurture talent and create new pathways to professional Valorant.
Fans can look forward to seeingFlorescentt and Apeks in action at the VCT EMEA Kickoff Tournament, starting January 15, 2025. With this addition, Apeks aims to make waves in the highly competitive Tier 1 scene.
