Valheim is a survival game in which you must explore a vast fantasy world steeped in Scandinavian mythology and Viking culture.
Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate have announced a significant update to Ashlands.
The biome is one of the penultimate worlds in the game, bringing with it many strong enemies and late-game content. If you last played Valheim a while ago or are just starting, you may want to avoid getting into the game immediately. Below, the Blix team has provided a brief overview of what's included in the Ashlands update and how to get into these very Ashlands.
A lot of games are getting updates nowadays. For example, we wrote about CS2 April Update not so long ago. Valve brings back Dust 2?

About the Update
The Fallen Valkyrie
In the Ashlands, the reanimated dead are neighbors to even more dangerous foes. The Fallen Valkyrie, seized by rage, soars through the sky, and the monstrous Morgen roams the scorched earth, looking for prey to satisfy his eternal hunger.
The developers strived to create a new biome and a struggle-filled world. Every scrap of land requires effort to capture, and every outpost must be fortified before delving into uncharted territories.
In a press release update, Valheim's producer said, "Ashlands is supposed to feel like a struggle, and players should expect a challenge. Every inch of territory you claim has to be earned, and every outpost has to be reinforced before you venture deeper. We're entering endgame territory here, and players need to be ready for what comes in the Deep North."
This update adds catapults and battering rams to the game, as well as a new greatsword, spear, and crossbow. All three items can be upgraded with gems that give them the power of nature, blood, and storm.
In addition to the primary new biome in the update, you'll see:
- 30+ New weapons
- 10+ New creatures
- 70+ New buildable items
- 30+ New crafting materials
- 15+ New food items and potions
- 3 New armor sets
- 2 New capes
- As well as new locations, events, music, and mechanics.
You can find even more details about the patch on the game's developer page on Steam.
How to Get to the Ashlands and What It Takes to Get There
Ashlands Location
Remember that it is an endgame area before you hop in-game to play Ashlands. Progression from previous biomes is required to craft new items or recipes, such as the item that The Queen drops in the Mistlands. So, we recommend playing through the rest of the game before venturing into the Ashlands.
You don't need to buy anything to access the add-on content. All you need is the original Valheim. Just update it on Steam.
After that, the Ashlands will appear in the south of your map. To reach their territory, you will have to overcome the boiling waters. None of the boats in the game can withstand such a high temperature. Therefore, you will need a Drakkar, a new maritime ship added in the Ashlands update.
Drakkar
To build a new ship, you need ceramic plates and other resources. To get the recipe for creating them, we must defeat the Queen of the Mistlands and steal her trophy and the Majestic Carapace from the boss's corpse. Pick it up, and you will unlock the recipe for creating an artisan press.
The Majestic Carapace
Building a press next to the artisan's table will raise his level and unlock the recipe for making ceramic plates. That's what we need. Create 30 of them.
The artisan table
You can build this Drakkar with 100 iron nails, 30 ceramic plates, 60 pieces of fine wood, and 25 pieces of Yggdrasil Wood.
The Ashlands are located in the southern part of the map. The water around the Ashlands is boiling. If you sail far south on a normal Drakkar, the high temperature of the water will damage and destroy the wooden plating. To overcome the boiling water, build a large Drakkar using ceramic plates.
Climb into your new ship and boldly sail south into the land of fire and ash. But be careful. The update has added a new kind of aquatic creature to the game. If you see strange lights in the water, it is better to avoid them.
Drakkar at sea
Get to the shore as soon as possible, park your Drakkar, and explore this dangerous biome.
Summary
Be very careful. In the new biome, you will encounter Bonemaw, Charred Marksman, Charred Warlock, Fallen Valkyrie, Lava Blob, etc.
You will also have to fight a boss. The boss of the Ashlands Biome in Valheim is Fader, who is marked on the map as "The Emerald Flame".
