According to recent reports, Elden Ring does not support cross-platform play between different console families or between consoles and PCs. Elden Ring is split into three separate systems for players on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, and there is no crossplay functionality between them. If you want to invite a friend to your session, they must play on a device with cross-platform compatibility, or the game won't be able to find them.
Cross-platform compatibility between platforms is as follows: PlayStation 4 players can play with PlayStation 5 players, and Xbox One players can play with Xbox Series X/S players. Such compatibility is called cross-gene compatibility. So, if you have a friend who still needs to catch the current generation of your shared favorite console, you can still play the game together.
