    Highlights from the Broadcast

During the broadcast, Bethesda and Virtuos employees shared their passion for TES IV: Oblivion and discussed the main innovations of the remaster. To the delight of gamers, all original content was updated, including both global additions and smaller DLC.

    Visual and Audio Improvements

    • Oblivion Remastered kept the original game’s core on the Creation Engine, but got reworked entirely in visuals based on Unreal Engine 5.
    • The remaster updated lighting, landscapes, textures, and animations and improved first—and third-person cameras. Bethesda paid special attention to weather conditions and changes in time of day. The game supports resolutions up to 4K.
    • All the assets in the game were recreated from scratch. According to the developers, this applies to the environment and the animations, including character movements and facial animations, created using original materials.
    • A living world with insects, fish, and light coming through the foliage.
    • As Bethesda representatives confirmed during the presentation, Oblivion Remastered is not limited to improved graphics and modern visual effects. As part of the project, the game received a complete re-soundtracking—all dialogs were re-recorded to provide a more accurate and diverse representation of the races living in Cyrodiil.
    • Completely new dialogues have been added to the game, which makes it interesting even for those who know the original Oblivion by heart. At the same time, Bethesda emphasizes that the iconic, slightly “weird” NPC lines, which have become memes, are still in their place.

    Gameplay Improvements

The authors did not limit themselves to improving the graphics because the gameplay was enhanced.

    • Updated combat system with visual effects, blood splatters, and controller feedback
    • Full third-person mode with Starfield-style crosshair and controls
    • Added the ability to run (sprint)
    • Improved leveling system combining the best elements from Oblivion and Skyrim
    • Completely redesigned character movement system
    • Preserved and visually improved iconic mini-games (lock picking, etc.).

    Content

    • Includes all add-ons: Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and other downloadable content
    • Full version of the game with all storylines and quests
    • The opportunity to learn about the events that preceded the story of Skyrim
    • Complete history of Oblivion, including the crisis with Daedra and the Mythic Dawn

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. It is also included in the Game Pass catalog. The standard edition of the remaster was priced at $50.

The deluxe edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered includes:

    • digital version of the main game
    • unique digital armor and weapons of Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon, as well as horse armor sets
    • Digital artbook and soundtrack (as an app)
