IEM Chengdu 2024 Overview: Format, Teams and Schedule

IEM Chengdu 2024 will be the first tournament after this year's most significant battle at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. It will feature sixteen teams fighting for a prize pool of $250,000 and a slot at another tournament called IEM Cologne 2024. Half of the teams participating here also participated in the PGL Major; the rest are yet to prove themselves. Team FaZe is here, and since the only team they lost in the Grand Final of PGL Major was Natus Vincere, and they're not here, is it FaZe to take a more minor but still a trophy here? We will see it very soon. The tournament will be held from April 8 to April 14.

IEM Chengdu 2024 Tournament Format

Group Stage:

Two double-elimination format (GSL) Groups

• Each group has eight teams
• Opening matches: Best-of-one (bo1)
• Subsequent matches: Best-of-three (bo3)

The top three teams from each group advance to the Playoffs:

• Group stage winners advance to the Semifinals
• Group stage runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds
• Group stage 3rd place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds

Playoffs:

• Single-Elimination bracket
• All matches are Bo3
