After four years, IEM Sydney returns this October. It's time for a big reunion, as Australia's most prominent esports tournament returns to Sydney for the first time since 2019.
The city has witnessed some of the best Counter-Strike teams perform on their stages, creating unforgettable moments with the crowd. The hype surrounding the event's return to The Emerald City matched with the release of Counter-Strike 2 to bring us a one of a kind event.
The tournament is set to kick off starting October 16 up until 22, with the Playoffs being played in the infamous Aware Super Theatre, so be sure to tune in to catch all the fun and action.

16 teams will lock horns for a chance to rise to glory, including six partnered teams plus others that qualified through ESL World ranking or their respective regional qualifiers.

How to watch IEM Sydney 2023
IEM Sydney 2023 will be broadcasted on ESL’s Twitch channel as well as on their B stream, since the event will feature up to two simultaneous matches during the Group Stage and Playoffs.
In addition to the official stream, several popular streamers, including ohnepixel, fl0m, and Gaules will also be co-streaming the event on their Twitch channels, so you can enjoy both the games and live reactions from the streamers.
The action-packed matches will kick off at 3:30 AM CET (12:30 AM ET), with two simultaneous matches being played during the Group Stage, so be sure to catch the games.
Format, prize pool distribution
Group Stage:
- Two double-elimination format (GSL) groups.
- Each group has eight teams
- Opening matches are BO1
- All following matches are BO3
- The top three teams from each group advance to the Playoffs:
- Group stage winners advance to the Semifinals
- Group stage runners-up advance to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds
- Group stage 3rd place teams advance to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds
Playoffs:
- Single-elimination bracket
- All matches are BO3
The total prize pool is $250,000 USD with most of it going to the Champion in addition to a ticket to IEM Katowice 2024. The winnings are spread among the rest of the participants, as seen below:
