Everyone knows the name Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok because he is League of Legends’s most popular player. The midlaner has been a part of T1 for years, and following the most recent announcement, he will remain a part of the team until 2029. His previous contract began in 2022 and ended this year, so here’s what you should know about one of the longest-active esports players.
Faker and T1
Faker is a living legend in LoL and one of the most recognizable names in esports overall. He has been playing for T1, the Korean organization, for several years now and will remain a part of it at least until 2029, when he will be 33.
Faker has been playing for the organization for over 11 years now and has won pretty much everything. In fact, T1 even made a short video that highlighted the player’s amazing achievements over the course of his career.
On X, T1 said that Faker has become a symbol of esports beyond League of Legends. We have to agree with it because he is the most successful esports player of all time. If we check his results, we will see that he has won Worlds 5 times and even secured a back-to-back trophy. This happened in 2023 and 2024.
Faker also became the first LoL player to be inducted into the League of Legends Hall of Legends. Moreover, the player has 7 skins dedicated to him and most recently reached an incredible milestone – over 1000 kills in international events. This happened during the 2025 Mid-Season Invitational.
Following Faker’s contract extension with T1, the squad’s roster looks as follows:
- Choi “Doran” Hyeon-jun
- Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun
- Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok
- Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyung
- Sin “Smash” Guem-jae
- Ryu “Keria” Min-seok
Keep in mind that Doran and Gumayusi’s contacts will expire in November this year, and we still have no details in terms of whether T1 will try to renew them. If that does not happen, we will have exciting roster changes.
