xPeke’s Backdoor Against SK Gaming at the Intel Extreme Masters 2013
2013 was 12 years ago (crazy to think of), but it was an interesting year for LoL. In fact, one of League of Legends’ best moments was when xPeke decided to backdoor SK Gaming while playing at the Inter Extreme Masters 2013. The player single-handedly won the match for his team and went down in history for his fantastic move. It was so good that people still call it the “xPeke move” even today.
Following the epic move, tons of players tried to replicate it repeatedly, but they failed. It is much harder to do it in today’s meta, but some people still hope they will do what xPeke did for his team all those years ago.
The Faker vs Ryu 1v1 Match at Hot6 Champions Summer
The second of the LoL best moments that deserves to be mentioned is also from 2013, and it includes the game’s most popular player – Faker. Although he has always been one of the best in the game, many experts believe that this 1v1 mid matchup was “the thing” that put him on the map.
Faker’s SKT T1’s and Ryu’s KT reached the Grand Final of the Hot6 Champions Summer Tournament. After a lot of hesitation, both of them decided to play Zed, which gave us the chance to watch one of the most iconic mid-matchups in LoL’s history.
Aside from the small moments early on, fans will remember this game forever because of Faker’s insane skills. Around 32 minutes after the start of the match, Faker pulled out an incredible move that baited the opponent’s midder.
Faker’s fast decision-making and skill allowed him to outplay Ryu, and this made him one of the most famous midders in LoL. Needless to say, Faker continues to be one of the best even today and will go down as LoL’s greatest player ever.
PraY’s Crystal Arrow Against SKT at Worlds 2016
When talking about some of the LoL iconic moments, we need to mention Worlds 2016. Even though every Worlds is amazing to watch, many old-school players agree that Worlds 16 was one of the best ever. Many moments could have made it on the list, but we at Blix.gg think that PraY’s Crystal Arrow desires it the most.
Rox Tiger’s player played with Ashe in this match, and he did fairly well. With that said, people will remember him for that amazing Crystal Arrow that he sent across the map. Although it didn’t seem like it would do much, the ability prevented Ekko from SKT from recalling. This was a brilliant move because PraY’s team had enough time to push and win the match.
SKT T1’s Amazing Combo at Worlds 2017
There is no arguing that SKT T1 is the most iconic League of Legends team of all time and has some of the best results. The team has been involved in many epic moments, but one that most fans will remember is its epic combo at Worlds 2017.
8 years ago, SKT T1 had to face EDG on Day 2 of the 2017 Worlds Championship, and the match was amazing, to say the least. SKT T1 had huge problems early on as they failed to secure kills, lost tons of towers, and their opponents had a 10k goal lead. Instead of securing the Baron, however, EDG decided to push mid, which was their biggest mistake because SKT T1 surprised them.
There was a very messy team fight that was executed to perfection by the South Korean powerhouse. Rakan’s charms, Cho’Gath’s flash-silence, Orianna’s shockwave, and Twitch’s damage allowed SKT T1 to secure a crucial fight that will forever go down in history.
The Base Race Between Invictus Gaming and KT Rolster at Worlds 2018
When talking about the best moments in League of Legends’s history, we have to address the iconic base race between Invictus Gaming and KT Rolster. This was one of those matches where everything was possible until the very end.
The series gave us access to one of the wildest base races in LoL. The match could have gone either direction in each of the 5 games. Even though KT Rlster did everything possible, IG was the better team that day and advanced to the tournament’s semifinals.
Bin’s Pentakill at the Worlds 2020 Final
Pentakills are one of those things that people love watching, especially in professional games. That’s why it’s no surprise that Bin’s pentalkill at World 2020 is among the most iconic moments in League of Legends.
Although we have seen loads of pentakills over the years, this one is more special because it happened during the Worlds 2020 Final. Bin played as Fiora in that match, and during the 2nd game, Suning did everything they could to focus on the snowballed champion.
Once Fiora acquired enough gold and items, DWG (her opponents) made a crucial mistake that allowed Bin’s team to strike. As expected, the overly-farmed core ripped through her opponents and secured the first-ever pentakill at Worlds 2020.
Conclusion
We are sure that there are many other iconic League of Legends moments that deserve more attention, but we have watched all of those and believe they stand out. Despite its age, this continues to be one of the most impressive Esports out there, so we can’t wait to see what will happen in the future.
