In a joint action between Straxel and Luca “LuKid” Sereno, a new off-season tournament, Varzea’s Cup, has been announced. The new tournament comes after the Copenhagen Major with there being an acute desire in the community to keep the competitive level high ahead of the Brazilian domestic scene’s second split.
While the region has had qualifiers for Gamers8 and some tournaments by Ubisoft, they have been largely for tier two teams. In contrast, Vareza’s Cup will be an open event and won’t restrict tier one players. The event is set to feature a $927 USD prize pool.
Here’s the format for the cup:
- Open Qualifier – Four spots into the Closed Qualifier
- Closed Qualifier ‘Four teams from Open Qualifier + Four invited teams from the Tier Two scene
- Main Event ‘ Four teams from Closed Qualifier + Four invited teams from the Tier One scene
The teams invited for the Closed Qualifier are: Black Dragons Female, Nova Cleytons, Viúvas da SN and w7m Female. Meanwhile, the four invited teams for the third phase will be mixteams led by captains from tier one teams. Teams won’t be able to be formed with more than three players from the same team.
The tournament is set to be broadcast by Straxel and the famous Team Liquid streamer Rafael “Razah” Ribeiro.
