Staehr on Buzz: “When he pops off, there’s nothing you can do”

After announcing himself at the RMR for the IEM Rio Major last year, it always seemed inevitable that Victor “Staehr” Staehr would find himself on one of the world’™s best teams. Now a part of Astralis, the team has blitzed even their own expectations as they now find themselves in the semi finals of IEM Cologne following a 2-0 victory against Heroic.

After the game, we spoke to Staehr about his first time on stage, beating Heroic, and the form of Christian “Buzz” Andersen.

Sam “AN1MO” McKenzie, BLIX: It’s your first experience of the LANXESS, you won the Danish Derby, how are you feeling having beaten the best team in the world?

Staehr: It feels the same, we don’t really care about the rivalry, we haven’t been a part of it so we don’t care about it, they’re just a good team who are hard to play. We showed some good CS, and we’re learning from every map we play. On Ancient, we had a rough one against NAVI, so today we fixed it all on T side and they didn’t even get a round. I’m extremely proud of everyone.

BLIX: What was it like to go out there and play on stage? Did you feel any nerves at all?

Staehr: I don’t really think I felt nerves. I was just excited and happy to see all the fans. Of course, it isn’t the case, but I feel like every single one was our fan, everyone was hyped and us to win. It was insane, when anything happened the crowd went crazy.

BLIX: Buzz had an insane series, where did that come from?

Staehr: I don’t know, he’s just insane. I don’t know what to tell you, when he pops off, there’s nothing you can do. He just solo carries. That’s just him.
