Many Iranian residents complained on Reddit and other social networks about the blocking of the Steam gaming service.
At first, Iranian users noticed the inability to launch the game in Dota 2 and CS:GO. When choosing a region, an error was displayed that didn’t allow connecting to any server.
Later, residents of Iran reported a complete blocking of Steam. According to them, even VPN services do not help bypass the block.
The Steam ban comes amid massive local protests that have been going on since mid-September. Iranians took to the streets after the death of 17-year-old Mahsa Amini. She was detained by the vice police because of the wrong hijab. A few hours later, the girl in a coma was taken to the hospital, where she died. Law enforcement authorities claim that she died of a heart attack.
