Valve surprised everyone by giving us access to the Dota 2 Patch 7.40. This became the biggest update of the year because we saw tons of hero, map and item changes, as well as Largo, the latest Dota 2 hero. It’s been a couple of days since the patch came out, so now it is time to take a look at some of the heroes that have been performing great and those that are just not worth it right now.

The Dota 2 Heroes That Gained the Highest Win Rate in Patch 7.40
As mentioned, the Dota 2 Patch 7.40 came with tons of hero changes that definitely affected the meta. Unsurprisingly, some heroes became much more successful than others, so it’s time to learn more about them.
Tidehunter
A quick look at DotaBuff after the 7.40 Dota 2 patch reveals that Tidehunter is clearly in the lead when it comes to win rate. The current stats are really impressive because Tidehunter’s win rate is sitting at 57%. If that’s not impressive on its own, the hero got a massive 6.7% win rate increase since the arrival of the new patch.
The same is true for Tidehunter’s popularity. Currently, he appears in around 17.44% of matches, which is a 11.44% increase from before. In other words, it is safe to say he is back in the meta.
If we see the changelog, we will see that Tidehunter received several buffs. For starters, Gush now deals more damage on levels 3 and 4. The same is true for Anchor Smash, but it deals more damage across all 4 levels. Other than that, Tudehunter’s talents also got buffed and some got replaced, making him way more efficient overall.
Naga Siren

Moving on to the second-most successful hero in terms of win rate increase after 7.40, we have Naga Siren. The hero got an impressive +3.67% win rate boost from before, putting her at around 50.67%. This may not seem that impressive, but the hero is actually in a much better state than before.
What’s interesting is that her win rate continues to be lower than expected, at least in PUBs. Her pick rate is slightly over 1% because it seems like most players don’t enjoy playing with her.
In terms of the changes, Naga Siren’s two Facets got buffed (Rip Tide deals more damage and Deluge’s CD is increased). Ensnare also received a change and the hero can’t use it on invulnerable units unless Song of the Siren provides the invulnerability. Speaking of the latter, the ultimate provides slightly less HP regen per second.
Bloodseeker

Bloodseeker is the third name on the list and he is in a similar state to Naga Siren. Prior to the 7.40 Dota 2 patch, Bloodseeker was not in a very good state, but the new patch changed it. Currently, he is sitting at around a 51.78% win rate and a 4.57% pick rate, which is much better than before.
As for the changes, Bloodseeker was one of the heroes that received the most buffs and nerfs. His Sanguivore ability now has a base heal increase from 25 to 30, but it is no longer upgraded with an Agh’s Scepter or Shard.
Bloodrage’s Agh Scepter effect is now moved to a Shard, but its health as pure damage is down from 3% to 2%.
The Dota 2 Heroes Whose Win Rate Plummeted After Patch 7.40
Sadly, the most recent Dota 2 Update did not have a good effect on everyone. Some heroes got hit hard, and since we have enough data to go through, let’s dive into the names that you should know.
Lone Druid
At the time of writing, Lone Drud is one of the least successful Dota 2 heroes in Patch 7.40. His current win rate is slightly above 42% and has dropped by more than 9% since the latest patch arrived. This makes him one of the worst heroes you can get right now, at least in terms of stats.
He got a massive rework in the latest patch. We won’t go through everything because there are tons of changes, so check the patch notes. Overall, he does not seem as strong as before, but we hope that things will change in the future.
Pangolier

Speaking of low win rate, Pangolier is in an abyss. At the time of writing, the hero’s win rate is at 38.82%, which is one of the lowest we have ever seen. His win rate dropped by 7.73% in just a few days and his pick rate is also at an all-time low at 1.17%.
If we take a look at the 7.40 Dota 2 patch, Pangolier got a lot of changes. His Double Jump and Thunderbolt facets were removed, and he also gets loads of changes to Swashbuckle, Shield Crash and Rolling Thunder. He also experienced some changes to his Talents.
Cinkz
The last hero that we want to mention here is Clinkz. His win rate before patch 7.40 was around 51.75%, but now, it is down to 46.40%. Despite that, the hero’s win rate is actually up and is currently at 5.87%, which is 1.82% more than before.
In terms of changes, Clinkz got a lot of them that definitely change the way he feels. Perhaps the biggest nerf is that Birning Barrage no longer slows down enemies. Also, Death Pact no longer creates Skeleton Archers.
Conclusion
The new meta following the Dota 2 Patch 7.40 is definitely interesting. These changes were highly anticipated because people had been hoping to see a new patch for several months. We expect the upcoming 7.40b and 7.40c to provide the much-needed balances. Make sure you follow us for more information.
