It is safe to say that the TI12 compendium was one of the biggest disappointments so far. Valve "butchered" the Battle Pass as the community knew it, removing tons of features and options. Needless to say, this had an effect on the TI12 prize pool, which was the lowest the event had seen in years.

If that wasn’t enough, Valve also said it was cancelling the 2024 DPC. Even though the idea behind this decision was to make Dota 2 more competitive and once again open the game up to more third party tournament organizers, a lot of fans weren’t impressed and felt this decision would do more harm than good. Of course, only time will tell us who’s right.

With that said, it seems like something the Dota 2 community is interested in are the old Arcanas. It’s pretty doubtful for Valve to allow access to older Arcanas, but considering all the other surprising changes, who knows, they may just give the community what they’re asking for.

    Old Arcanas

When talking about old Dota 2 Arcanas, what the community is interested in are those unavailable in the Steam store. Some of these options include:

    • Earthshaker - Planetfall
    • Wraith King - That One True King
    • Windranger - Rising Gale

There are even more options, because back in 2019 and 2020 we saw a lot of arcanas. Sadly, people who weren’t able to get them back then, either because they’re newer players, or for other reasons, have no way to obtain them now. Even though the idea behind this decision was to make these items more exclusive, it seems like the community isn’t happy with it.

Considering some of the Immortals eventually become available after time, the same system could be applied to older Arcanas. Although, with that said, people who wanted the Arcanas back in the day had to spend a lot of money to reach the required Battle Pass level, so if Valve decides to add those items to the game, they’d need to come up with a price. Players had to spend more than $100 on a Battle Pass, which meant that only a few people ever had access to it.

We’ll keep an eye on this topic, and how Valve responds to the community’s interest, and let you know when we have more information. Make sure to follow us for more information about Dota 2 because we have some exciting months ahead of us. The first major tournament since TI12 begins in a few weeks from now, but we’re expecting to see at least one big update before that.
