Just a few days after FISSURE PLAYGROUND #1 came to an end, Dota 2 fans gained access to BLAST Slam II. The competition includes 10 world-class teams that will compete for the $1,000,000 prize pool.
Following a day full of epic series, the Group Stage is over. Blix’s team followed the action closely, so here’s a quick recap of everything that happened and what we can expect.
Group A
The first Group at Blast Slam 2 consisted of the following 5 teams:
- Tundra Esports
- Talon Esports
- BetBoom Team
- Team Liquid
- Yakult Brothers
Considering that Tundra won FISSURE PLAYGROUND Belgrade 2025, it’s no surprise that the squad was the big favorite. Fortunately, it lived up to the expectations because Tundra finished first in the group. The team only lost one series against Team Liquid and defeated the rest.
Yakult Brothers is the second squad here that impressed us with its performance. The Chinese only lost the series against Tundra, but because of that, they got a slot for the Quarterfinals instead of the Semifinals.
Perhaps the team that disappointed us the most was the BetBoom Team. Fans expected more from the EEU powerhouse, but BB Team ended with 1 victory and 3 losses. The same is true for Talon Esports, whereas Liquid had 2 victories and 2 losses.
Group B
Moving on to the second group at Blast Slam II, it had the following names:
- Team Falcons
- Gaimin Gladiators
- PARIVISION
- Xtreme Gaming
- Nigma Galaxy
There’s no arguing this was the more interesting group to follow because the results surprised everyone. Despite their mediocre performance just a few days ago, Gaimin Gladiators reminded everyone why they’re among the best. The team only lost one series and finished first in the Group.
Perhaps the biggest surprise so far is Nigma Galaxy’s results. After so many attempts in the last couple of years, the team finally stepped up its game and ended Group B with 3 victories and 1 loss.
Speaking of surprises, fans definitely expected more from Team Falcons and PARIVISION. Both ended up with 2 wins and 2 losses, but many people predicted that they would dominate the group.
Xtreme Gaming is the only Dota 2 team at BLAST SLAM II that failed to win a single series. The Chinese lost all of their matches, but the good news is that the Group Stage did not include any eliminations.
Playoffs
The playoffs at Blast Slam II will kick off on February 5 with the Round 1 Matches. We have two amazing series to watch:
- PARIVISION vs Talon Esports
- BetBoom Team vs Xtreme Gaming
Considering the performance of these teams so far, it’s safe to say that PARIVISION and BB Team are the heavy favorites. Should they succeed, they will have to face Team Liquid and Team Falcons, respectively.
Closing Thoughts
BLAST SLAM II is one of the big Dota 2 competitions in 2025, and we can’t wait to see what’s going to happen. Speaking of the devil, the matches from Round 2 will be held on February 6, whereas those from the Quarterfinals will be on February 7. Lastly, we have the Semifinals, which will be on February 8, and the Grand Final, which will be on February 9.
If you don’t want to miss out on the action, remember to check the official live streams HERE and HERE. It seems like Tundra Esports is in an excellent position to win its 2nd tournament this year, but we’ll see if it will happen.
