Dota 2 fans worldwide will be sad to hear that OG decided to disband its newly acquired roster. As reported around three months ago, OG got a new roster under the OG.LATAM name, and fans were excited because the squad featured big names. Sadly, the team failed to live up to the expectations.
OG’s Decision to Disband its Dota 2 Team
It comes as such a surprise that OG decided to disband its OG.The LATAM roster was removed because the team failed to perform as expected. It was unable to qualify for the Riyadh Masters or The International 2025, meaning it will miss out on two of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments in the world.
Following these disappointing results, OG announced on Twitter that it will part ways with its team. “We will continue working with Vintage and Luan to make sure we have a strong project for the region, and we want to reiterate our commitment both to being involved in SA and the excellence of OG”.
An important fact is that all of the players’ contracts have expired, allowing them to move on to other clubs if they want. OG clearly expected more from its roster because the team organisation was hoping to qualify for at least one of the two major Dota 2 tournaments. In fact, OG regarded OG.LATAM is the organization’s main roster, which means it had really high hopes for it.
What’s Next?
To be honest, we are not sure what’s going to happen next with OG, but there are strong rumours that we may see Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen back in the game. If that happens, there is a high chance we may see him alongside OG once again. Only time will tell, so make sure to follow us for more information.
