Dota 2 has many popular events, but it is safe to say that Diretide is one of the most beloved. Everyone wants to know if the Dota 2 Diretide event will return, especially now that Halloween is already over. We looked into the latest updates, and here’s everything you need to know.

Will Dota 2 Diretide Be Available in 2025?

As much as we want to say yes, the reality is that we do not know if Diretide 2025 will be available. The fest after which it is named has already ended, and Valve has not shared any official information.

However, the most recent edition (2022) began in November, which gives us hope that Valve may decide to bring the event back this year.

What Is Diretide in Dota 2?

Diretide is one of the most loved and longest-running Halloween-based events in Dota 2. It first appeared in 2012, and the goal back then was to bring down Roshan.

In the 2022 event, players fought Greevils and collected taffy, which they had to deposit into enemy wells to stop their progress.

Aside from the fun gameplay, the event was also famous for its rewards, such as the Baby Roshan couriers, which became some of the most expensive items in Dota 2 history.

How to Play Dota 2 Diretide in 2025

Assuming Valve decides to bring back the Diretide 2025 event, we expect the rules to remain similar to previous years:

• Two teams compete to collect as much taffy as possible during each round.
  A team must win three rounds to claim the match.
• When an enemy hero dies, they drop taffy.
• If both teams end with the same score, the round goes into 30 seconds of overtime.
• Even when a player dies, they still gain XP (but not gold).
• Killing creeps grants gold and XP to the entire team, not just the last hitter.
• Once you have enough taffy, you must “channel” it into your Home Bucket — but beware, channeling can be interrupted by enemies.
  

Rewards in Diretide

Each Diretide event is slightly different, so the rewards change yearly. Typically, rewards come from a random pool of over 75 items, and may include:

• Couriers
• Chat Lines
• MMR Double-Downs

Players can also collect Candy, often tied to the Battle Pass. Candy can be exchanged for cosmetic rewards, including:
