GamerLegion shared on X that Ashley “Ash” Battye will no longer be a part of the organization. The 35-year-old spent 5 years with the club and it seems like his time there has come to an end.
GamerLegion Parts Ways with Ash
As stated in GamerLegion’s announcement, the organization wants to “take a moment to thank Ash for everything he has done”. The coach became a part of the organization in 2020 when GamerLegion was trying to rebuild its roster. He joined just when William “draken” Sundin, Hampus “hampus” Poser and Dennis “dennis” Edman left the team.
As soon as he became a part of the club, the British coach quickly impressed everyone with his professionalism. He helped GamerLegion through the years and was essential in the club’s impressive run at the Blast.tv Paris Major. This was when the team reached the Grand Final and lost to Vitality.
Ash’s Decision
In case some of you may have forgotten, the 35-year-old coach decided to step down from GamerLegion late last year. Ash responded that the burnout was due to having tons of LAN tournaments. Moreover, the team had problems finding a replacement for their AWPer after Henrich “sl3nd” Hevesi was removed from the team.
Shortly after ash stepped down, it became clear that the coach would be interested in trying something else. There were interviews where he admitted he’s ready to move on, so most people are not surprised by his current decision.
But what’s next for Ash? Well, many top-tier CS2 teams would love to add such an experienced coach to their roster. The British star has proven himself over time and is more than capable of living up to the expectations. We will just have to wait and see where he will move to.
