Eloy “deLonge” Suarez is no longer the active coach for Gentle Mates because the team moved him to the bench. This puts an end to his 8-month career with the organization.
Gentle Mates Benched deLonge
After it became clear that deLonge won’t be a part of the team anymore, he tweeted that he is “grateful for this year of grinding from the bottom”. He has been a part of the team for a lot longer before he officially became the coach. In fact, he coached the team while they were competing for the Iberian Soul and KOI.
While this was happening, the team actually achieved good results. KOI, for example, managed to secure a slot for the PGL Copenhagen Major. The team even almost made it to the StarLadder Budapest Major. Gentle Mates also came close to qualifying for the IEM Cologne Major, but ultimately missed out on the competition.
Following deLonge’s departure, the team looks like this:
- Alejandro “alex” Masanet
- Alejandro “mopoz” Fernández-Quejo Cano
- Pere “sausol” Solsona Saumell
- David “dav1g” Granado Bermudo
- Antonio “MartinezSa” Martinez
What’s next for deLonge?
It should be noted that deLonge has almost always been a coach ever since his career started in 2017. There was a brief time when he played for two teams – Dogmination and GTZ Bulls Esports, but this did not last long. Ever since he became a part of Caronte in 2021, he has been a coach for several teams.
Considering that he is now on the bench, it is very likely for him to leave the squad and look for new opportunities. There are several CS2 teams that would love to have the Spanish superstar by their side, so we’ll have to wait to see if he will make the move. Follow us for more details.
