Cloud9 have recruited Kirill “â Boombl4â ” Mikhailov as a substitute player for the Thunderpick World Championship in place of Dmitry “â sh1roâ ” Sokolov, who recently decided to step down from the organization.
Earlier, when reporting the departure of sh1ro, Cloud9 noted that they would have liked to keep him in the CS team but respected his decision to part ways.
sh1ro has been a part of this squad since 2019, even before they stood under the Cloud9 banner. When Cloud9 announced their return to the Counter-Strike scene, the organization signed the Russian/Kazakhstani squad from Gambit Esports. Being a member ever since, sh1ro has been involved in all of Cloud9’s achievements and failures since their return to the Counter-Strike space.
Boombl4 isn’t walking into something completely unknown. In July Cloud9 acquired ex-Natus Vincere duo Denis “electroNic” Sharipov and Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy, whom Kirill has played and won a Major with previously.
Thus, two former NAVI In-Game leaders, Boombl4 and electroNic will simultaneously play in the Cloud9 squad.
Cloud9 currently are:
- Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov
- Abay “HObbit” Khassenov (IGL)
- Denis “electroNic” Sharipov
- Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy
- Kirill “â Boombl4â ” Mikhailov (stand-in)
- Konstantin “groove” Pikiner (Coach)
