Hugo ‘TheSwedishJoker’ Nilsson Meier, BLIX.GG: Congratulations on the win! You guys won over complexity pretty convincingly, 2-0. What was the preparation like going into the game?
broky: We didn’t really have any preparation. We just practiced three maps yesterday with es3tag, and that was it. Since we got kind of fucked with konfig, so we had to get him in fast and practiced three maps, and that was it.
BLIX: You had a similar situation last year in Katowice with Jks kinda, and I remember that you guys said that you guys just played a lot of retakes together. Do you think you’ll do the same with es3tag here at BLAST?
broky: We will just play every game how it is and take one game by one, and hopefully, we keep winning like today.
BLIX: Have you guys done any position changes to help es3tag get into the team a little bit easier when you’ve had such a short amount of time?
broky: Not really. He has played this role before, so I think he feels good and that we just need to support him. If he wants to do something, he can do it and we just play the game how it is.
BLIX: Talk to me a little bit about the whole substitution situation. What was it like from your point of view?
broky: I personally don’t care what happened. I think everyone was at fault, so I just played the game. Whoever we got, we got to play now. And I forget about what happened yesterday.
BLIX: Karrigan won IGL of the year, and you guys won team of the year at the HLTV awards. Ropz was nominated for highlight of the year and Robban for coach of the year. I saw some tweets from some players in your team that they were disappointed. Do you feel like they got robbed in those categories?
broky: Obviously, I’m part of the team, so I feel like we got robbed. So it depends on how the other players from other teams feel and who is the better coach. For example, for me, it’s obvious Robban is the best coach, so I’m going to say that.
BLIX: You guys have played on the new update now that valve released last year and played on it at the last World Finals. What are your thoughts on it so far?
broky: I think it was a great update, especially adding a new map, and the AWP update was great as well. I don’t really feel a difference since I can reload after four bullets. On defense, I need to kill three, at least.
BLIX: Has it had any effect on your playstyle so far?
broky: I don’t really think that. If you miss them, you cannot get the five kills. If you don’t miss, you still have the five kills, so no problem for me.
BLIX: Do you feel like Anubis has the potential to be a good map for awpers like yourself?
broky: Of course, I think it’s a great map. I think the A bomb site is a bit harder since the enemies can easily take A control if they have good flashes and molotovs. And I think they need to change a bit to T-side, and then the map is going to be great.
BLIX: Have you noticed anything that you would like to see changed on the map so far with A site, for example?
broky: I feel like A site is hard to retake and hold if you are alone. Since the meta is now two to one playing one alone.
BLIX: Would you have rather seen another map come in instead of Anubis?
broky: No. I mean, it’s Valve’s decision. We can’t really change it. So I just play what map comes in.
BLIX: Do you like the fact that they bring in new maps, like Anubis and vertigo, instead of reworked maps like we’ve seen with, for example, dust 2 in the past?
broky: I mean, it depends on how they rework it. If they just change the map’s aesthetics, then I don’t think it’s worth it with them.
BLIX: They also came out recently with a new ranking for future RMRs. You guys had it a little bit tough with the seeding at the Rio Major. Was it the right thing to do from Valve?
broky: I think it’s good that Valve has their own ranking for the Major, so I think it’s a great thing to do.
