The Esports Integrity Commission has canceled the two-year participation ban imposed on ex-Heroic coach Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen.
ESIC has announced that commissionaires and HUNDEN met on November 29 in person to discuss matters arising from that participation ban. The meeting was conducted in good faith and with a collaborative spirit. While the parties were in disagreement on certain matters, both parties recognized the importance of integrity to the thriving esports industry.
“Following discussions between the parties, Mr Petersen has agreed to undertake relevant training and ESIC has confirmed that it will review its policies and procedures to ensure they are consistent with good industry practice and fit for purpose. In light of the constructive engagement between the parties, Mr Petersen will return to participation in ESIC member events with immediate effect,” said the ESIC statement.
HUNDEN and ESIC bind themselves from making further comments on this matter. Later HUNDEN thanked his lawyers and confirmed that he would not comment on the situation.
ESIC imposed a two-year ban on HUNDEN on August 19, 2021 when it became known that he shared Heroic strategies with a member of the competing roster before IEM Cologne 2021. By undertaking these actions, he violated several of ESIC’s rules and breached their code of conduct.
