On Day 2 of IEM Rio 2024, six matches will be played, all of them best-of-three series. There will be two Group B upper bracket matches, two Group B lower bracket matches, and two Group A lower bracket matches.

Vitality vs. TheMongolZ
Vitality vs. TheMongolZ - IEM Rio 2024
The first Group B upper bracket match. These two teams met before at ESL Pro League Season 19, and Vitality won with a 2-0 score. Since then, they have become even better as a team, and now, even though it is TheMongolZ chance to take revenge, it will be much harder than before, and they will have to surprise them to take a best-of-three series.
9z vs. Virtus.pro
9z vs. Virtus.pro - IEM Rio 2024
Group B lower bracket match and first elimination match at IEM Rio 2024. These two teams hadn't met since last year, and before the lastmatch between them, it was 9z to win with a 2-0 score. Now, both teams seem shaky, and both have something to prove, so it is an interesting match where the two teams will give their all since it's their last chance at this tournament.
HEROIC vs. Astralis
HEROIC vs. Astralis - IEM Rio 2024
The second Group B upper bracket match, and here we have two Danish teams playing against each other. Most of the players here have played together on the same team before, and now they are split into two teams fighting for the playoff stage spot. The last time they met each other was at YaLLa Compass 2024, and Astralis won with a 13-6 score. Now, both teams won their first match, which was against one of the best teams at the moment, so it seems that both of these teams are prepared for this tournament.
G2 vs. Eternal Fire
G2 vs. Eternal Fire - IEM Rio 2024
The second Group B lower bracket match and this one is unexpected. One of these teams will have to go home, and it's surprising to see since both of these teams were in the Grand Finals of the recent two CS2 tournaments. The last time these two met each other was at PGL Major Copenhagen 2024, and G2 won with a close score of 16-13. Now it's Eternal Fire's chance to take their revenge, and it might be a good opportunity for them since G2 might have wasted everything they had to win and get their trophy at the recent tournament.
MOUZ vs. Complexity
MOUZ vs. Complexity - IEM Rio 2024
Interesting match between one of the top European teams, MOUZ, against North American team Complexity. MOUZ hasn't been in good shape for some time, and it's time to wake up here in an elimination match if they want to keep themselves in this tournament. The last time these two teams met at ESL Pro League Season 20, they played twice against each other; both times, it was Complexity to win with a 2-0 score. It's MOUZ's chance to take their revenge, but we will have to see if they have what it takes now.
FaZe vs. Liquid
FaZe vs. Liquid - IEM Rio 2024
FaZe has been trying to find its form back for a long time already against Team Liquid, who seems to become better and better with every game but needs to be consistent. These two teams last met at BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024 just a few weeks ago, and FaZe won with a 2-0 score. Now, considering FaZe not being in their best shape, it's a good chance for Liquid to take this game.
