ENCE has made the decision to part ways with their captain, Jakub ‘kuben’ GurczyÅski, who has been with the team since November 2023.
After enjoying success as Virtus.pro’s coach during the organization’s peak, the coach was recruited by ENCE following a one-year tenure with Apeks. Notably, he guided Apeks to an unexpected appearance in the semi-finals of the BLAST.tv Paris Major.
The Polish captain was part of ENCE’s impressive performance at IEM Katowice. Despite losing four players who had helped the organization reach second place in the world rankings earlier in the year, ‘kuben’ and Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander led a mostly Polish team to compete in front of their home crowd at the Spodek for the first time since ‘kuben’s time with Virtus.pro in 2016.
ENCE initially performed well but has since dropped outside the top 20 without strong finishes online or on LAN. Their recent elimination from the Perfect World Shanghai Major Europe RMR Closed Qualifier means they will miss a Major for the first time since 2018.
Despite an already challenging situation, the decisive blow came from former ENCE players PaweÅ ‘dychaâ ‘ Dycha and Olek ‘hadesâ ‘ Miskiewicz. Of the two, ‘hadesâ ‘ put on a remarkable performance in the opening map of the series, achieving a remarkable 21-2 kill-death score and an outstanding 2.27 rating.
‘Kuben’ has been unexpectedly removed from the active roster and will not be part of the team at the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 20. The team is placed in Group D and is scheduled to play its first series against Liquid on September 10.
ENCE is currently seeking a new head coach. However, even if they find a replacement before the Esports Premier League, the new coach will not be permitted to stand behind the team during the tournament due to the roster lock.
