Since joining ENCE, Guy “NertZ” Iluz has been a revelation. One of the stars as the team won IEM Dallas, he has continued from where he left off after the player break at IEM Cologne.
Now into the Grand Final, we spoke to NertZ about the game, his performance, and the Israeli scene.
Sam “AN1MO” McKenzie, BLIX: Congratulations, you’ve made it to the final, how are you feeling?
NertZ: I feel great, I’m happy that my teammates carried me this whole best of three. I’m really excited for tomorrow.
BLIX: Are you disappointed with your performances today?
NertZ: I’m really disappointed because I didn’t show up for the first two maps, in the third map I woke up, and I knew I couldn’t stay the way I was playing. There’s things that we’ll fix in the next game, or next tournament, so I’m disappointed, but I don’t care because we still won.
BLIX: Do you feel like you guys might be the best team in the world right now?
NertZ: I don’t want to say it, but I’ll say it after we win IEM Cologne. If we win tomorrow, we’ve showed consistency, so if we win, I will say it.
BLIX: Yourself, Spinx, flameZ, you all represent a lesser nation in CS:GO, how much do you think it means for the next generation of Israeli players especially with CS2 on the horizon?
NertZ: I feel like now there isn’t many players from Israel, and this is disappointing, but when CS2 comes, I feel like a lot of players will come and we’ll be the teachers, we’ll give them tips. This is really important to me because I played a lot in the Israeli scene and I sacrificed a lot. I believe in the Israeli scene, and I believe that in the future we can do something as a national team.
BLIX: So who is the next star we’ll see on big stages? The next Nertz, Spinx, or flameZ.
NertZ: HeavyGod. For sure, HeavyGod. There is no doubt.
