Dataminers Aquarius and Maxim “Gabe Follower” Poletayev found new evidence of the coming implementation of the Source 2 engine in CS:GO.
Aquarius post a screenshot of the Source 2 developer pre-release branch.
Later, Gabe Follower reported that someone anonymously sent him executables of CS:GO Source 2.
“Something weird just happened again, looks like CS:GO Source 2 executables going around, someone just sent me them, and it’s legit,” he noted.
He also declared which maps, according to him, are ready for transfer to the long-awaited game engine. They are Overpass, Shortdust, Lake, Inferno, Shoots, Italy and Cobblestone.
Gabe Follower says that this is not an exhaustive list and other maps could be directly ported from the current engine.
Fans have long waited for the porting of CS:GO to a new engine and the anticipation in the community has been building for quite some time.
Valve moved Dota 2 and some others games to Source 2 a long time ago, but it’s wasn’t in a hurry to do this with CS:GO. However, it is known that the work is underway and fans around the world are going crazy waiting for this.
