ENCE had a really great first half of 2022 when the team could reach ESL Pro League Season 15 and IEM Dallas 2022 finals and finished 3-4th at PGL Major Antwerp 2022. Things weren’t so good in the second half as the roster got changed with Alvaro ‘SunPayus’ Garcia and Valdemar ‘valde’ Bjørn VangsÃ¥ additions. SunPayus performed well when playing in a comfortable environment at Movistar Riders. It was doubtful whether the Spaniard would be able to maintain his performance on a higher level and in the international English-speaking roster. But he could prove his ability to adapt and win.
Alvaro became the most valuable player of this new ENCE formation even though the team could only win one online event (CCT North Europe Series 2). His worst event was ESL Pro League Season 16, with a rating of 1.08, which is still a solid performance. SunPayus, with 69.3%, has had the highest success in the opening duels since the moment he joined ENCE (against the top 30 teams, minimum of 30 maps played). Also, he is more than just AWPer and often plays with a rifle: 509 kills with AWP and 317 kills as a rifler.
ENCE have some issues with the T side and they lack Alvaro while playing for terrorists. Actually, the whole team looks much worse, but his mistakes are the most visible due to his amazing performance in defense. Also, when the game plan doesn’t work Marco ‘Snappi’ Pfeiffer loses his IGL confidence and makes not the best decisions: the team bangs against the wall, repeating the same, not successful actions. Letting someone else call (valde, for example) in the mid-rounds could be a key to success. ENCE definitely made a good call with the SunPayus signing and now has everything to take another step and reach new goals.
