Monte has made the decision to bench Volodymyr ‘Woro2k’ Veletniuk, who served as the AWPer and in-game leader for the team, marking the end of his almost two-year tenure with the organization as one of its original members.
This represents the most recent in a series of changes for Monte, as they have recently added Martin ‘STYKOâ ‘ Styk and Ali’â hAdji’ Haïnouss to the lineup.
Monte did not disclose the replacement for ‘Woro2k’on the team yet, and‘Woro2k’s future destination remains unclear.
The 22-year-old sniper was one of the founding members of Monte and served as the team’s in-game for much of his near two-year stint. They found some modest success in the online scene in 2022 after their founding in July but suffered from roster instability. After adding Szymon ‘kRaSnaL’Mrozek, Viktor ‘sdy’Orudzhev, and Sergey ‘lmbt’Bezhanov to their lineup by January 2023, Monte began climbing the world rankings. They secured several online event wins, including the ESL Challenger League, and qualified for the BLAST Paris Major Europe RMR.
After an underdog run to the top eight at the Paris Major, the team secured a spot in the top 10 world rankings. Following the Major, Mohammad’ BOROS’Malhas left the team. Despite expectations of a decline, the team’s performance remained strong with Alexander ‘br0’Bro joining. They achieved a top-four finish at ESL Pro League S18, came in second at Roobet Cup 2023, and won the trophy at ESL Challenger Jönköping 2023, solidifying their status as a top-five team by the end of 2023.
In early 2024, Monte’s prospects took a hit with the departure of key players ‘br0’and ‘sdy’. As a result, the team’s world ranking began to decline. Although they were still able to make deep runs in tier-two online events, their overall performance was significantly impacted by the departures.
With‘Woro2k’s departure, Monte no longer has any of its original roster members. Sergiy ‘DemQQ’Demchenko is now the longest-serving player after joining the team just a week after its founding, replacing Karol ‘rallen’Rodowicz.
