A preview of the $270k+ USD tournament in Dubai hosted by Galaxy Racer: the five biggest storylines to watch out for.
Galaxy Racer’s Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022 tournament, a sudden announcement on the Dota 2 competitive horizon, will start March 2.
The LAN event, held in one of the most important cities on the planet, will host ten of the top teams in the world from several DPC regions. In addition, 1 million dirhams, or about $272,000 USD, is at stake.
The home tournament for the well-known Nigma Galaxy team, and their younger relative Nigma Galaxy SEA, promises to be very exciting.
Firstly, it’s going to be played on the new 7.31 patch; which increased the game’s speed, tilted the balance towards 4+1 tactics and toward more aggressive gameplay. Secondly, this is the first LAN since The International 10 last October! And thirdly, of course, we’ll have a battle between completely new lineups; all teams except for the current Aegis holders; Team Spirit, made replacements before or during the DPC Winter Season. So, wholly new stories await us in Dubai.

You may be wondering; who are Galaxy Racers, and why do they have two teams? Here’s a brief answer.
Who Are Galaxy Racer?
Galaxy Racer (GXR), founded in 2019 by Paul Roy, is one of the most prominent esports organizations globally. The organization is located in Dubai, UAE and has two teams in Dota 2 (EU and SEA regions). Recently they parted ways with their CS:GO roster, but they also have squads in League of Legends, VALORANT, PUBG Mobile, BGMI, LoL Wild Rift, and Free Fire. Moreover, GXR has contracts with over 100 content creators across the world.
Now, for what matters.
Storyline #1: How’s Kuro’s Nigma?
Of course, it’s the central question of the tournament. KuroKy’s team must have something to show. Moreover, it’s necessary for them to show progress.
GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Dubai 2022 is the home tournament for Nigma Galaxy; who have already traveled far and wide in Dubai, got used to the hot climate, had plenty of rest, mentally prepared, and gained strength. In addition, they didn’t play the WEU regional finals. But at the same time, they missed all tournaments from third-party organizers… Everybody knows: you need constant practice to forge champions.
What’s more interesting’will Kuro be able to prepare for the tournament in the week since the 7.31 release? Statistics say that his Nigma performs chaotically, beating the tops and losing to the underdogs ‘ regardless of the preparation time. Of course, it doesn’t help that Nigma barely participates in unofficial tournaments, and the regional leagues are stretched out.
- At 7.30, it took them several DPC and OGA Dota Pit 5 matches to get back into shape, win the final four matches in their league and qualify for tie-breakers (which they embarrassingly lost 0-3)
- At 7.29, there were variable wins and losses with a 4-3 league record
- At 7.28, they again played 4-3 in the league after a couple of warm-up matches at OGA Dota Pit 4
Dubai should be a practice ground before the start of the second season of the DPC. And at the moment, Nigma has no excuse to play it poorly. However, if KuroKy revives the magnificent potential his team once had, plenty of Dota 2 fans would be pleased. Now is the time to get in shape, and besides, this is the first LAN for the team since WePlay AniMajor.
