2025 was not the most exciting year for Dota 2 in terms of meta changes because we did not have that many updates. Despite that, players had the chance to see three big meta shifts, and the latest one is from a few weeks ago.
We already shared our 2026 Dota 2 expectations, but since we are a few days away from the new year, we also wanted to take a step back and review some of the most successful heroes. The names you’re about to see have dominated the game in the last 12 months, so let’s begin.

Wraith King
He definitely deserves to be on the list of the top 5 Dota 2 heroes with the highest win rates, and he is actually leading the chart. The statistics show that his win rate is 54.93% for the past 12 months, and the pick rate is 13.14%.
Wraith King is characterised by having strong early and mid-game. Unlike many other carries, he also scaled really well into the late game and often became too powerful to deal with.
Most professional teams and PUB players picked him when they needed to have a strong laner who works against most setups. Wraith King is an excellent option for pushing towers, taking early game skirmishes, and works in most lineups.
Abaddon
Abaddon is the second name that appeared a lot in 2025, and for a good reason. He is also among the top 5 Dota 2 heroes with the highest win rate. The stats for the last 12 months reveal a win rate of 53.99% and a pick rate of 8.47%. This puts him in second place behind Wraith King.
Unlike WK, however, Abaddon is a lot more versatile. He can be played as an offlaner, carry, or even support. Most people will remember that he was mostly an offlaner and scaled really well in the late game. Abaddon’s ultimate makes him hard to deal with at all stages, and his shields are also a good offensive or defensive ability, including dispel.
The 7.40 Dota 2 meta has not been that favorable for Abaddon, so we expect to see a sharp decline in his success in 2026. With that said, Valve may decide to “revive him” in the next big Dota 2 update.
Vengeful Spirit
The third position may be a bit surprising for some, but Vengeful Spirit has been a dominant name in Dota 2 in 2025. Like Abaddon, Vengeful Spirit is more flexible than usual because people used her as both support and carry. That is one of the reasons why Venge’s win rate is at 53.56% and her pick rate is at 9.35%.
What makes Vengeful Spirit one of the top 5 Dota 2 heroes with the highest win rate is her effectiveness. She can be one of the most important supports in the game because her ultimate often changes the dynamics of a team fight. The hero is also great in the early and mid-game and is an excellent pusher.
When it comes to Venge as a carry, she is definitely not on the same level as Wraith King. However, under the right circumstances, she can do really well. This explains why many people often pick her for this role.
Lich
On the topic of supports, Lich is the next name on the list of the top 5 Dota 2 Heroes with the highest win rates in 2025. With a win rate of 53.34% and a pick rate of 12.30%, he was among the most consistent position 5 heroes throughout the year. In fact, he remains a solid option even today, despite some of the nerfs in the most recent patch.
The thing that makes Lich such a popular choice for position 5 players is his incredible laning stage. It’s safe to say he can be one of the most annoying heroes early on, and his damage output is often underestimated. A well-timed Chain Frost can be devastating, and the enemy team often underestimates its power.
In our opinion, Lich will continue to be a viable option in 2026 as well, so we look forward to seeing if this will be the case.
Juggernaut
Juggernaut is the last of the top Dota 2 heroes of 2025, and most of you probably won’t be surprised by it. He has always been a solid pick regardless of the meta, but 2025 was especially good for him when it comes to PUBs. He was consistently among the most popular names, which explains why his win rate is at 53.20% and the pick rate is a record high at 17.55%.
Juggernaut is one of the classic Dota 2 carries that fits well with most setups. He works well through all stages of the game and farms a lot faster than most other carries. Sure, he may not be the best option for the ultra-late game, but most matches with Juggernaut do not reach that point anyway.
Final Thoughts: What High Win Rate Heroes Tell Us About the 2025 Meta
We did not include a hero from every position in Dota 2 because the idea was to focus on the most successful names. The only thing missing on the list is a midlaner, and the stats show that Broodmother is leading. She has a 52.11% win rate and a 3.17% pick rate, making her a solid choice. All in all, some heroes were significantly better than others, so we’ll see what’s going to happen.
