Since Dota 2 is an Esport that has existed for many years, it has players from all over the world. The professional scene has changed a lot since the early days, but one thing is certain—some countries have a lot more representatives than others.

While on the topic of states, we are about to see all of the top Dota 2 countries in terms of players and prize money. Some of the numbers may surprise you, so let’s dive in and learn more details.

    Contents

    • 1 China
    • 2 Russia
    • 3 Ukraine
    • 4 Sweden
    • 5 USA
    • 6 Finland
    • 7 Denmark
    • 8 Malaysia
    • 9 Honorable mentions

    China

It may come as no surprise that China is the first country on the list in terms of players and prize money. As of late 2024, this country has a total of 659 professional players who have won a combined amount of $85M. These numbers are staggering, but we must remember that China has always been one of the leading nations in Dota 2.

If we dive deep into the individual performance of players, we can also see interesting results. For now, Wang “Ame” Chunyu leads the chart in terms of money. The Legendary Dota 2 carry has won close to $4.2M so far, making him one of the richest players.

Zhang “y`” Yiping is the next name on the list with almost $4M in winnings. The number 3 on the list goes to Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida, a TI winner who has around $3.9M.

    Russia

When discussing the top Dota 2 countries in terms of players & prize money, we need to talk about Russia. Everyone knows that Valve’s game is incredibly popular there. In fact, Russian players dominate the EU PUB Dota 2 scene across all skill brackets.

When it comes down to the professional Dota 2 scene, Russia has 643 representatives. Combined, these players have earned $38M so far, which puts them in second place. As you can see, there is a huge difference between the first and the second spot on the list.

As for the individual performance of different players, Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov is leading with his $5.8M in winnings. The second place is for Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov with $5.5M, followed by Alexander “TORONTOTOKYO” Khertek with $4.4M. Needless to say, all of these players have won The International.

    Ukraine

As of now, Ukraine is number 3 on the list of Dota 2 countries in terms of players and prize money. The latter has 283 active professional players who have won $22.2M so far. Once again, there is a significant difference between second and first place, but this is mainly due to the much lower number of professional players.

Speaking of the devil, Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk is the leader in terms of winnings with his $5.5M. The second place goes to Miroslaw “Mira” Kolpakov with $5.5M, followed by Roman “Resol1tion” Fominok with $2M. The reason why there’s such a big difference is because Yatoro and Mira won The International.

    Sweden

The fourth name on the list is very interesting because it actually has fewer professional Dota 2 players than the fifth. However, these players have won more money than those in number 5, which is why they are here.

Sweden has a lot of top professional gamers across many titles, including Dota 2. Nowadays, the country has 158 professional players, and combined, they have earned $18.8M so far.

If we analyze each player’s results so far, we will see that Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg is in the lead with $4.2M. He is one of the most experienced names in the professional Dota 2 scene as well.

The second spot on the list is for Gustav “s4” Magnusson ($2.7M), another world-class player. Lastly, we have Samuel “Boxi” Svah with $1.9M.

    USA

On the topic of the top Dota 2 countries in terms of players & prize money, the USA is 4th on the list with 222 players and 5th in terms of prize money. So far, the US Dota 2 stars have accumulated $18.7M.

Diving deep into the individual performance of players, Wu “Sneyking” Jingjun is leading the chart with almost $3.1M in winnings so far. He is followed closely by Saahil “UNiVeRsE” Arora with $3M. The last name here is Peter “ppd” Dagger with $3M. All of the 3 US players have won The International.

    Finland

Finland is another name on the list of the top Dota 2 countries in terms of players and prize money. Currently, the small country has 119 professional Dota 2 athletes, and together, they have earned $17.4M.

Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka is the leader here because this player has accumulated close to $6.5M. This amount is jaw-dropping, and the reason it is so high is because of OG’s two consecutive TI victories.

The second place is for Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen, another name from OG. He has $5.8M in winnings.

Lastly, the third name is Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen, one of the most popular carries in Dota 2. Matu has won $4.8M throughout his career so far.

    Denmark

Despite the fact that Denmark only has 58 professional Dota 2 players (almost 3x less than the next names on the list – Malaysia, the Philippines, and Germany), these players have accumulated more money than the rest.

Currently, Denmark has around $14.4M in prize money winnings. What’s interesting is that one player has half of that amount – Johan “N0tail” Sundstein. OG’s captain has accumulated a jaw-dropping amount of $7.1M so far, making him the Dota 2 player with the highest prize money earned so far.

The second place is for Andreas “Cr1t” Nielsen with $3.1M, followed by Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard with $2M.

    Malaysia

The last of the top Dota 2 countries in terms of players & prize money we want to talk about is Malaysia. Players from the SEA country have won $11.7M so far, and there are 173 active players at the time of writing.

Yap “xNova” Jian Wei is the leader in terms of winnings with his $2.1M. The second option that comes after him is Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang with $1.9M and Zheng “MidOne” Yeik Nai with $1.8M.

    Honorable mentions

Alongside the countries mentioned here, we also need to give credit to the Philippines, which has 178 active players. The same is true for Germany, with 128 players, and Peru, with 187 stars.
