FaZe Clan have announced that inactive Ninjas in Pyjamas’ player, Patrick “es3tag” Hansen, will replace HÃ¥vard “rain” Nygaard at the Blast Premier Spring Groups 2023. While rain will be absent as he awaits the birth of his child.
At first, FaZe requested Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke as a stand-in but the tournament organizer denied it. Forcing FaZe to urgently look for another candidate.
Later Blast acknowledged the confusion that transpired around the roster lock.
“At the beginning of the year FaZe Clan submitted a roster change for this week’s Spring Groups due personal reasons. FaZe Clan requested the use of kOnfig, this request was denied as the player was registered on another team’s roster for the event. In that process there has been confusion around whether this subsequent emergency substitution request was formally accepted and validated by BLAST in time for the event. After looking into the incident internally, we identified miscommunication and a lack in clarity from BLAST on the roster lock timings and kOnfig’s eligibility to play in Spring Groups,” Blast announced.
The tournament organizer has accepted Patrick “es3tag” Hansen as a stand-in and Eddie Han as a stand-in coach for FaZe Clan in Spring Groups’ opening match against Complexity.
Blast also noted that if FaZe Clan faces Ninjas in Pyjamas, es3tag will be unavailable to play in that match, a circumstance that both teams are aware of and have accepted.
