The first ever Counter-Strike 2 Major will take place in Copenhagen on March 17-31 2024, PGL reported.
The first CS 2 Major will be hosted at the Royal Arena, one of the world’s most modern and prestigious indoor arenas.
PGL noticed that the company has a track record of hosting successful esports events. The PGL Major Stockholm in 2021 was the most-watched CS:GO tournament of all time, while the recent PGL CS:GO Major Antwerp 2022 was the largest indoor esports event ever, attracting more than 20,000 fans to Antwerp’s Sportpaleis.
“One of the greatest games of all time is marching to another chapter, and we couldn’t be happier to host probably the most important Major of the franchise in recent years. Denmark has a rich esports heritage, and we are excited to bring the world’s best Counter-Strike teams to Copenhagen to compete for the game’s most prestigious title. Our ambition for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 is to break the game’s all-time viewership records,” said PGL’s CEO Silviu Stroie.
PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 will feature the world’s top 24 teams. The prize pool tournament will be $1,250,000.
As BLIX.GG earlier reported, Valve has officially announced the launch of Counter-Strike 2 in the Summer of this year and already started a limited test of the game with the updated engine.
The last Counter-Strike: Global Offensive major will be hosted in Paris in May this year.
