How To Unlock Characters In The First Descendant?
Starting Characters
When you begin your journey in The First Descendant, you are given a choice of three starting Descendants. You don’t have to worry about which one you choose – the two you don’t can be unlocked later in other ways.

Methods for Unlocking Descendants
There are two ways to unlock new characters in The First Descendant: buy them or unlock them through research with crafting components. Each character has a different level that affects their skills, while the First Descendant Master Ranking, which involves things like inventory slots and enhancement modules, is player-dependent and transferable.
The fastest way to get new characters is to buy them directly from the in-game store for “Caliber“, the premium currency:
- Open the main menu;
- Click on the “Shop” tab;
- Select the “Descendants” section;
- Select the desired character and make the purchase.
Buying a base character will cost between 300 and 900 First Descendant Caliber, while the Ultimate character will cost 3000.
If you want to avoid spending real money, you can also effectively create a Descendant through research with Anais, who can be found in Albion. You can also find tips like ours on Reddit as well.
Anais’s location
Creating or exploring a character utilizes components you receive as a reward for a mission. This process will be available once you are free to explore the open world, with a side mission to Obtain Bunny Suit Materials from various activities. This will culminate in a mission to kill the boss of a Colossus Grave Walker, rewarding you with several First Descendant Amorphous Materials, one of which will be the final “key” to unlock Bunny’s research.
Once you’ve collected the necessary materials, you’ll need to build the Descendant Parts you need and then begin researching a specific Descendant. Your friend during this process will be Anais, who is the NPC responsible for researching weapons and descendants in Albion:
- Move to Albion;
- Find Anais and talk to her;
- Select the “Research Request“;
- Select the “Descendants” tab;
- Select the character you wish to create.
