Riot Games, Valorant and League of Legends developer and tournament organizer, blacklisted Carlos “ocelote” RodrÃguez Santiagos, founder and ex-CEO of G2 Esports, forcing him to sell his shares of G2 Esports.
According to journalist and insider Antonio “Inyustificado” Yuste, Riot made it a condition to keep G2 in the League of Legends European Championship.
The reason for Riot’s pressure on the G2 was the protracted scandal surrounding the invitation of Andrew Tate to the G2 party. Tate, a former kickboxer, is known for his sexist and misogynist remarks.
Earlier, it became known that the ocelote had to step down as CEO of the esports organization he’d created. In addition to this, the Valorant G2 roster lost a slot in the franchise league.
But according to an insider, Riot was not satisfied with this and cancelled ocelote from its space.
It is worth noting that earlier Riot was accused of gender discrimination against employees. The company agreed to pay $100 million and agreed to be monitored for three years by an independent organization.
