According to multiple sources, DAMWON Gaming are set to sign former World Game Star player Ko ‘Sylvan” Young-sub to their VALORANT roster for VCT Challengers Korea 2023. Sylvan will not replace any player on the current roster, instead they will be experimenting with a 6-man roster for 2023.
DAMWON Gaming are one of the six organizations invited into the 2023 Challengers Korea League joining organizations like Nongshim RedForce, CNJ esports, Maru Gaming and World Game Star. DAMWON decided to keep their previous roster from 2022 which included Allow, Exy, Esperanza and Lakia who was loaned to DWG by IGZIST. During the off-season, DAMWON decided to keep most of their roster only letting go of Texture who joined Global Esports for the 2023 VCT Partnership League.
Sylvan is a veteran VALORANT player in the Korean scene, having had fantastic results playing with World Game Star since May 2021. While being highly regarded during the off-season, Sylvan was not signed by a partnered organization during the off-season.
It will be interesting to see how the 6-man roster performs in the upcoming league, as it is a relatively untested strategy in the world of VALORANT and the one’s who have tested it haven’t seen much success from it. Some fans are excited to see how the team will utilize the extra player, while others are skeptical about the ability of the team to gel and work effectively with such a large roster. Only time will tell how the 6-man roster experiment will pan out for DAMWON Gaming.
One thing is certain, however: the VCT Challengers Korea 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting and competitive league, with many skilled and talented teams eying for a chance to move on to the 2024 VCT Pacific main circuit. With the addition of Sylvan to the DAMWON roster, the competition is sure to be even more fierce.
