EDG started strong, winning both the pistol round and the bonus, but things took a little turn in Team Heretics‘ favor, where they dominated the match-winning nine rounds in a row. Team Heretics’ defense was strong, and they finished the first half with a 9-3 score. EDG failed to secure the second pistol round and the bonus, leading Team heretics to a big score. EDG tried to make a comeback, winning the three next rounds, but Team Heretics had an intense read of EDG plays and closed out the first map with a 13-6 score. Despite their loss, ZmjjKK managed to top the scoreboard with 22 kills and a 1.43 rating.
EDG Strike Back on Their Own Turf

After losing the first map, EDG was determined, so going into the second map, Team Heretics had a confidence boost. EDG didn’t let that loss affect them, and they went on to destroy Team Heretics on this map, finishing the first half 11-1. EDG was locked in, so going into the defense side, EDG kept the same momentum and closed out the map 13-4.
EDG Take the Lead on Lotus

Now that the two teams are tied 1-1, both teams are ready to start Lotus on the third map. EDG began to on defense and denied the pistol round from Team Heretics, but Team Heretics clapped back and won their eco round; both teams fought hard and strong in the first half, ending it with a tie score of 6-6. EDG showed their strong side in attack, winning multiple strikes to close it out at 13-9, with CHICHOO, this time being on the top of the scoreboard as an Omen with 27 kills.
Heretics Force a Decider on Bind

Bind is next. The stakes are high on this map; if EDG wins this one, they win the whole tournament, and if Team Heretics wins the score, the fifth map will be in the play. Bind was a close call, with Team Heretics winning the pistol and the bonus this time. Both teams performed well in this half, with each team winning a round and losing the next; they ended the half with a tied score, but things took a little twist in the second half in Heretics’ favor, winning the fourth map with a 13-11 score.
EDG Triumph on Abyss to Claim the Champions Title

The final map, Abyss, would determine the winner of Valorant Champions 2024. EDward Gaming started strong, securing both the pistol and bonus rounds. Team Heretics tried to mount a challenge, but EDG’s well-organized and structured play left no openings for Heretics to exploit. The first half ended with EDG firmly in control, allowing Heretics only four rounds. In the second half, despite Heretics’ brief resurgence with a five-round win streak, EDG shut it down, securing their victory. With this win, EDG made history as the first Chinese team to win an international Valorant event.
ZmjjKK Breaks World Record and Claims MVP
In this last matchup, ZmjjKK managed to break the world record for the highest number of kills in an international series with 111 kills, surpassing Zachary “zekken” Patrone and Max “Demon1” Mazanov. ZmjjKK also managed to win the MVP of the tournament officially for the first time in Valorant Esports history.
