Since Dota 2 has been around for many years, it’s no surprise that fans have seen tons of events. Due to the many pro players, tournaments, heroes, and fans, Dota 2 has some very interesting stats that a lot of people are probably not aware of. Those who like to dive deep into the game may find them interesting, so we at Blix.gg checked sites like Echarts and compiled the stats you should be aware of. Let’s dive in.

Over 2.7M Peak Viewers At TI 10

Every Dota 2 fan worldwide knows that The International is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world of Esports. Each TI brings together fans from all over the world, but the stats reveal that The International 10 was on another level.

At the time of writing, TI had a peak viewership of 2.7M players, much more than before. Just for comparison, The International 2019 had 1.9M viewers, whereas TI in 2024 had 1.5M peak viewers.

Overall, TI is the most viewed Dota 2 tournament every single year. Some people probably expected the Riyadh Masters to take its place, but it seems like fans like TI way more.

LGD Gaming vs Team Spirit was the Most Viewed Match

Since we are on the topic of peak viewers, there is one Dota 2 match that is above the rest. The clash between LGD Gaming and Team Spirit at The International 10 holds the record for the most peak viewers. The numbers are jaw-dropping because this series included more than 2.7M peak viewers.

The second match that deserves more attention is OG vs Team Liquid. This was The International 2019 Grand Final, and the stats show that it had more than 1.96M peak viewers.

The third-most popular Dota 2 match was between Team Secret and Team Spirit at The International 10. By the looks of it, the Dota 2 clash had around 1.8M viewers.

Dota 2’s Total Prize Pools Are Over $342M

If there is one thing that Dota 2 is famous for in the world of Esports, it is the prize pool. Fans may remember that the first The International was the first Esports event with a reward of $1M, a sum that was unheard of back in the day.

Fast forward several years later, almost all of the major Dota 2 events have at least a $1M reward. This is also the case for events like DreamLeague Season 26 and all other major competitions.

The situation is even more interesting when it comes to The International. When players had access to a Battle Pass, a portion of the money they spent contributed to the event’s prize pool. This resulted in Dota 2 tournaments with jaw-dropping rewards, such as the one in The International 2021, when the reward reached over $40M.

If we look at all of the Dota 2 tournaments so far, the prize pools are jaw-dropping. The stats show that the sum is over $342M, putting Dota 2 in first place in terms of prize pool money.

    More than 2490 Tournaments

Dota 2 is an Esport that has been around for a long time, so it is no surprise we have access to all kinds of tournaments. Some years were better than others, but if we take a look at all of the events so far, we can see that the total number is 2490.

As mentioned, some years have been better in tournaments than others, and 2020 is an excellent example. The stats reveal that this year gave us access to more than 256 tournaments, whereas 2021, for example, only had 176.

An interesting fact is that 2025 only has 43 competitions so far. It’s true that we are only in May, but it seems like there won’t be as many events as in 2024, when we saw 192 competitions. It will be interesting to revise these stats once they become available.

Team Liquid has the Most Dota 2 Matches

When it comes to the Dota 2 team with the most professional matches, one name is above the rest. As of 2025, Team Liquid has more than 824 games, which is way more than the second option on the list. Speaking of the devil, Team Spirit has 640 games, whereas OG comes third with 653.

N0tail is the Dota 2 Player With the Highest Total Winnings

Johan "N0tail" Sundstein is the highest-earning Esports player in the world, having taken more than $7.4m (£5.4m) in prize money to date

Denmark is one of the countries with the best Dota 2 players in the world. Consequently, most people are not surprised that players like n0tail lead the chart in terms of winnings.

Judging from the stats, Johan “N0tail” Sundstein has won over $7M from Dota 2 alone after playing in 332 matches. He was the main driving force behind OG’s two TI victories and countless other trophies. Nowadays, he is no longer active, but continues to play an essential role in his club.

Other people that should be mentioned here include Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka and Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov. Both of them have earned over $6M from playing their favorite game and competing against some of the best in the world.

China has the most Dota 2 Players

Regarding countries and players, Dota 2 fans know that some nations are more represented than others. If we look at the stats as of 2025, we can see that China is in the lead with 297 professional players. The second place goes to Russia with 292 and third place is for Peru with 157.

Peru is an interesting name here because the country had hardly any representatives before. However, things have changed a lot in the last couple of years, and it’s safe to say that Dota 2 is huge in South America.

    Closing Thoughts

Although Dota 2 has existed for many years, it remains one of Esports’ main pillars. The game continues to bring together fans and professionals worldwide, and we expect it to keep being one of the go-to Esports. With that said, the current Dota 2 client has been around for some time now, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Valve decides to give us a big update soon.
