Players battle against each other in teams of three. Everyone chooses a character from one of three classes:
- Heavy - slow but strong fighters with the highest health.

Each class has several active abilities, but only one can be selected before the match. Unlike many other competitive shooters in The Finals, you can't win by killing opponents only. In The Finals, almost all walls and platforms are breakable. Fighters can destroy them with a grenade, a mine, an explosive charge, or a grenade launcher shot.
