Rule Changes at CS2 Shanghai Major
On May 31, Valve announced rules regarding qualifying for December’s CS2 Shanghai Major. The innovations caused mixed reactions, as they limited the appearance of mixes in the final stages of qualification.
This update’s main point is that open qualifications in the Americas and Europe will not be held. Invitations to closed qualifications will be given to teams in Valve’s top 30 rankings.
Players, analysts, and professional teams were outraged by this innovation. Valve introduced such a rule to combat cheaters, as at the previous major, there was a scandal about cheaters in open qualifications, and many teams were disqualified.
